Walter may be a very proud, selfish, arrogant, and megalomaniac man, but deeply complex and insecure. When he and Skyler need to buy a store to wash their drug money, Walt wants to own precisely the same car wash that hurt his pride when Skyler mentions that the owner of the carwash has offended his manhood. Walt also refuses to let him hang his framed dollar on the wall and decides to use that dollar to shop for a drink from the machine.

About Walter White

Walter White Cooking Costume

As Walt plunges deeper into the criminal underworld, he increasingly sees people as consumable farmers, either manipulated to further his interests or to eliminate them. Early in Season 1, Walt has great difficulty forcing himself to commit murder, but at the end of Season 4, he hardly worries about it and was also able to poison a small child without any remorse. Nothing can substitute the way of his growing empire, and his position of power stuns his compassion for people. He also finds his new status as a drug dealer as psychologically rewarding, which causes him to resort less and less to criminal acts such as theft, extortion, money laundering, and murder to point out pleasure, enthusiasm, and even some kind of spoiled indifference in these actions to at least one certain point. Walt's Machiavellian descent into the criminal underworld reveals a surprising amount of suppressed ambition, anger, resentment, vanity, and increasing recklessness that has alienated him from his family and peers.
