Buddy the Unicorn Buddy 2026 Horror Comedy Mascot

1 Adult Orange Fleece Hooded Onesie (essential)This is the whole body, and orange is the first thing anyone reads. Look for a bright true orange, since rust and peach look like a different animal. It is cut as a women’s size, so check the size chart before you order.

2 White Plush Spiral Unicorn Horn Headband (essential)Without the horn you are just a person in an orange onesie. The elastic band holds it up, but it can slide on a fleece hood, so pin the band to the hood if the horn starts to lean.

3 White Oversized Plush MittensThese stand in for his white hooves. They are also the reason you cannot use a phone.

4 White Canvas Slip-On SneakersAny plain white slip-ons work. Check your closet first.

5 Purple Velvet Patch for the Heart (essential)The purple heart is what makes this Buddy and not any other orange unicorn onesie. The patch is about 6 by 8 inches, so you cut the heart yourself. The pack says iron-on, but fleece hates heat, so test on a scrap or sew it on.

6 Red Cotton Triangular BandanaA 22 inch cotton square. Fold it into a triangle and tie it loose, because a tight knot under a hood gets hot fast.

How to Style the Buddy the Unicorn Halloween Costume

People look for the heart and the horn before anything else. A crooked horn reads as a party hat. Skip the heart and someone will ask if you are Garfield.

Buddy ends every segment with “Well, that’s all the time we have,” and then keeps smiling at the kids. Do that. Say it when a conversation is over, and hold the smile one beat too long.

Split the heart for the zipper

One whole heart over the zipper means you cannot open it when the room gets hot. Cut the heart in half down the middle and attach each half on its own side.

Mittens and cups

Plush mittens cannot grip a cup or tap a phone. Take them off for drinks, and give one to a friend to hold so it does not end up under a couch.

Buddy the Unicorn Group Halloween Costume Ideas

Duo Idea

Buddy the Unicorn & Betty Bunny

Strong duo idea, but only if the bunny puts real work into the costume. Betty Bunny is Buddy’s co-host on the show, and people who have not seen the film will not know her. Expect to explain her at least once.

Group Idea: The It’s Buddy! Cast

Buddy, Betty Bunny, Strappy the Backpack, Mr. Mailbox, Couchy the Couch, Charlie the Train

Might work, but only for a crowd that has seen the film. Four of the six are objects, so someone ends up dressed as a couch, and they will need a plan for sitting down.

Buddy the Unicorn Halloween Costume DIY Tips

Building the Look

Most of this is a purchase, and the heart is the only part that needs scissors.

Onesie: thrift stores rarely have a true orange. Buy it.
Horn: a felt and wire version is a bad way to spend an evening. Skip it.
Heart: draw it on paper first, trace it onto the velvet, then cut it in half down the middle.
Mittens: plain white fuzzy ones from a thrift store work fine.
Shoes and bandana: check your closet.

Playing Buddy at the Party

He is cheerful in a way that makes people nervous. Keep your voice soft and your smile fixed.

Wave with a mitten and hold the wave a little too long. It gives you something to do in a loud room.
A foam axe is the obvious prop. I would skip it, since it turns a joke costume into a horror costume in a crowded bar.
Do not narrate the film. Stay in the kids’ show.
