Halloween Costume Guide
Moxxie plans out assassination contracts with the same care most people reserve for a wedding seating chart, then gets genuinely queasy on roller coasters instead of firefights. The tailcoat suit and striped horns are what separate him from a generic red demon costume, everything else is a layer of commitment on top. Helluva Boss moved to Prime Video worldwide in late 2025 alongside a renewed push for the whole Hazbin Hotel universe, with Helluva Boss season three set to premiere in Fall 2026 (Amazon MGM Studios), so Moxxie has a bigger built-in audience this year than in past ones.

The horns are the first thing people notice, since the black and white striped pattern isn’t something you see on a generic devil costume. Skip the red body paint and just wear the suit with horns, and the whole thing reads as a guy dressed up for a demon themed office party instead of a specific character. The suit needs to look tailored, not costume shop boxy, or the theater conductor read falls apart entirely.
When Blitzo mocks his taste in musical theater mid mission, Moxxie just keeps planning the operation and does not dignify it with a response. He gets more anxious about roller coasters than about firefights, thanks to genuine motion sickness. When something actually goes wrong, his go-to reaction is “Oh, crumbs,” said with the same weight most people reserve for a much worse word.
Patch test the body paint the night before
Some cheaper body paints dry out skin or cause irritation after a few hours, and finding that out at the party is worse than finding out at home. Test a small patch on your arm the night before, and pack a travel-size lotion for touch ups if your skin runs dry.
Decide on the sclera contacts well before Halloween week
These need to fit and feel right before the actual night, not tried for the first time as you’re getting dressed. Order early enough to do a trial run, and if the fit feels wrong or your eyes are irritated, switch to the tinted glasses instead of pushing through it.
Couple Idea
Strong pairing if you both actually watch the show, since Moxxie and Millie are written as one of the more stable married couples in adult animation rather than a couple defined by conflict. That steadiness does not translate to an obvious visual gag the way a chaotic couple would, so the costume reads as “cute married demons” more than a specific reference to people outside the fandom.
Duo Idea
Strong duo built on a real dynamic, Moxxie’s caution against Blitzo’s chaos is one of the show’s running conflicts. It works best if the Blitzo half commits to the messier, louder energy so the contrast actually shows up in how you both act, not just what you’re wearing.
Group Idea: Helluva Boss Characters
Excellent if you can get the full cast together, since these five make up the entire core of I.M.P. and its orbit, and each has a distinct enough design that the group photographs as a set rather than five similar demons. Drop below four people and the group starts feeling incomplete rather than like a deliberate smaller cast.
Group Idea: Demonic & Hell-Themed Characters
Might work, but you’re pulling from four completely different franchises, Marvel, Hellraiser, Disney, and Sandman, with nothing tying them together except a loose “hell adjacent” theme. A general crowd will read the group as “assorted demons and villains” without placing Moxxie specifically among them.
The suit is the one item worth buying specifically for this costume, since a random blazer and tie combo does not give you the conductor silhouette.
Moxxie is polite, anxious, and quietly competent, the opposite of the loud chaotic demon default.
The tailcoat suit and the striped black and white horns are the core of the look. Add the white wig, red body paint, and white freckle dots for the full demon transformation, or skip those and just do the suit and horns for an easier version.
Better odds than you’d expect for a niche show. Helluva Boss moved to Prime Video worldwide in late 2025 alongside Hazbin Hotel, and its third season premieres in Fall 2026, right around Halloween. That is a much bigger audience than the show’s original YouTube run, though Moxxie will still read mostly to people who watch the show.
His actual catchphrase is “Oh, crumbs,” said instead of swearing whenever something goes wrong. There is also his flat “Did she have brain damage?” after finding out who his boss dated, and his confused “Why do you have four heads?” from an episode where he is very drunk.
Moxxie is voiced by Richard Horvitz, who also voiced Zim in Invader Zim.
No. Moxxie has a red tail and cloven hooves in the show, but there is no product for either in this build. Skip them, or add a simple tail accessory if you already own one. Neither is worth buying just for this costume.
Helluva Boss is a spinoff set in the same universe as Hazbin Hotel, both created by Vivienne Medrano and both streaming on Prime Video. That is why the related costumes below pull from Hazbin Hotel characters instead of a separate Helluva Boss category.
Only if you already have experience wearing contacts. Full sclera lenses cover more of the eye than regular colored contacts and carry more risk if inserted wrong. If this would be your first time wearing any contact lens, skip it and use yellow tinted glasses instead.
