Honor Rose Halloween Costume
Honor Society is an odd film, an often funny film that at times undermines audience expectations, but works against itself with its own message. The original Paramount+ film takes some often unexpected and original directions, though it takes all the tried-and-true high school and teen movies and starts off as one type of movie before evolving into a more mature one that attempts to transcend those tropes and sometimes it works.

The new Honor Society film follows a high school grad who tries to get a recommendation from her guidance counselor, Mr. Calvin, to get her into Harvard. Things go awry as she tries to defeat her best rivals, only to gain affection for one of them in the process.
The film follows the eponymous Honor, a high school senior who defines herself less by her personality and more by her ambitions. Students are competing with her for college, she devises a plan to get her there bringing and sabotaging everyone wins her the only spot on her creepy career advisor's Harvard recommendation. What follows is a bright and energetic film with some ultimately important messages, but one that can't escape the stereotypes it's trying to dispel.
Honor Rose, the main character, is versatile, funny, and most importantly written around her resume, with great grades, a philanthropic streak, and a ton of extracurricular activities.
This film is just one of many that seems to return a general sense of belonging and lightheartedness to students who are in the same age group as the characters in the films. It's a return to summer blockbusters after the film industry saw such a drop in ticket sales with an all-star cast with the rise of the pandemic.
