Halloween Costume Guide
Eight items to build Claudette’s look from Dead by Daylight, starting with the layered shirts and glasses that make the character immediately readable.
Claudette Morel heals her teammates in Dead by Daylight using plants she finds around the map, which is either very resourceful or deeply concerning depending on what those plants are. She is one of the four original survivors in the game, released with the base version on June 14, 2016, according to the Dead by Daylight Wiki. The layered shirt and glasses combination is specific enough to be recognized by any DbD player; outside the game’s community, the costume reads as a casual student outfit, which is fine.

The glasses and the layered shirts land together as a single read. If the blue frames are sitting straight and the pink tank is clearly visible over the red sleeves, the costume is doing its job. The most common failure point is the pink tank being too long and covering too much of the red shirt, which collapses the layered effect into what looks like a plain pink top. Pull the tank up slightly if needed so both colors are readable at the same time.
Claudette posts botany answers on online forums under the name Science Girl. She is the person at the party who knows something specific and useful about everything around her and mentions it quietly without making it a thing. If someone’s plant is dying, she knows why. She probably knew before they did.
The beanie and wig need to work together before you leave
A short dreadlock wig under a beanie can shift through the night, especially if the beanie sits too loosely. The wig moving independently of the beanie is noticeable from several feet away and reads as a costume malfunction rather than a styling choice. Pin the wig to the beanie before you put it on, or use a couple of bobby pins through both layers to keep them moving as one piece.
This costume is niche and that is fine
Claudette is an original survivor from a game that has been running for nearly a decade, but Dead by Daylight is a specific enough reference that not everyone at a general Halloween party will place it. That is not a problem if you are going somewhere with gamers or horror fans. If you want something everyone will recognize, add a bloody costume variant with the Blendette angle and let the prestige cosmetics do the work. If you just want to be comfortable and accurate, the default look is the right call.
Couples Idea
Excellent couple pairing for DbD players because the visual contrast is the entire premise of the game: a survivor in casual clothes standing next to a killer in industrial gear and a bear trap. Anyone who knows the game will get it immediately, and the contrast is strong enough to read even for people who do not.
Duo Idea
Strong duo within the Dead by Daylight community, where the survivor-and-killer pairing is a recognized format. The Legion’s purple hoodie and knife contrast cleanly with Claudette’s casual student look. Outside the game’s fanbase, this reads as two people from different costumes rather than a deliberate pair.
Group Idea: Dead by Daylight Cast
Excellent group for a DbD fan event, because mixing survivors and killers is the natural group format for this game. Dwight and Meg are the other original survivors alongside Claudette, so the three of them together anchors the survivor side. The Trapper and Legion add killer contrast. This group will be immediately recognized at any gaming or horror convention.
Group Idea: Survivor Women
Might work, but these characters come from five different games and films, and the thematic connection requires the crowd to understand the “women who survive” concept rather than a shared universe. Lara Croft and Ellen Ripley are the broadest references in the group. Claudette is the most niche and will need the others to carry recognition for anyone who does not play Dead by Daylight.
This is one of the more wardrobe-friendly costumes on this site. Most of it may already be in your closet.
Claudette is quiet, helpful, and knowledgeable about plants. She is also one of the original survivors in a game about being hunted, which means she has been doing this longer than almost anyone.
The costume is built on two essential items: the pink tank top layered over a red long-sleeve shirt, and the thick blue-frame glasses. Add classic jeans with a wide white belt, a short dreadlock wig under a gray beanie, and butterfly print boots. The layered shirt combo and the glasses are what make it read as Claudette rather than a generic casual outfit.
“Basic Botany Knowledge could save your life someday.” It is the flavor text for her Botany Knowledge perk and the most quoted line associated with the character. Say it at a party about anything. It holds up in almost every context.
Dead by Daylight still has an active player base after nearly a decade, and Claudette is one of the original four survivors, so recognition is solid within the gaming community. Outside of DbD players, the costume reads as a casual student outfit rather than a specific character, so it works best at gaming or horror-focused events.
Claudette’s default look is a pink tank top over a red long-sleeve shirt, classic blue jeans, butterfly print boots, a wide white belt, thick blue-frame glasses, and short dreadlocks sometimes covered by a gray beanie. She is one of the few survivors in the game who wears glasses, which is a key detail for the costume.
Claudette’s three unique perks are Botany Knowledge, which increases healing speed; Empathy, which reveals the auras of injured survivors nearby; and Self-Care, which allows her to heal without a med-kit. She is built as a healer and support character, which fits her lore as a botanist who makes tinctures from plants she finds in the environment.
Claudette is voiced by Sarah Robinson, who at the time of recording was the Lead UI Designer on the game.
Blendette refers to players who equip Claudette with the darkest available cosmetics to blend into the darker environments of older Dead by Daylight maps, making it harder for killers to spot them. The opposite is Brightette: playing with her brightest cosmetics. The default costume in this guide is firmly in Brightette territory.
