Mabel represents the shooting star in the zodiac.

She has long brown hair that reaches her hips and curls down, a small tuft of hair at the back of her head, and brown eyes like Dippers.
Mabel's attire varies for each episode, more so than any other character, with at least one new outfit usually consisting of a sweater, camisole, skirt, headband, black ballet flats, white foot socks, and occasionally earrings, although she varies and is watching.
Her signature outfit is a short-sleeved pink singlet under a slightly darker fuchsia sweater with a shooting star, accompanied by a purple, teal, and orange striped tail that falls to the left, a matching fuchsia headband, a loose purple pencil skirt, paired with black ballerina flats and white ones socks.

Mabel is an energetic, fun, lively, hyperactive, enthusiastic and free spirited girl. She's an optimist who hops through life with a smile full of suspenders and an assortment of extremely colorful knit sweaters. It's Mabel's outgoing personality and fearless curiosity that comes in handy when Dipper needs help solving a mystery, even if she's not always aware of her stupidity. She shows a more sophisticated attitude when it comes to art.
Despite all the craziness in Gravity Falls, Mabel is always a half-full glass girl. She is rarely angry or upset and generally maintains a positive attitude. Despite her cheerful nature, Mabel proves to be quite sensitive, as she can occasionally hurt her feelings, particularly from her rival Pacifica Northwest. She's a bit naive sometimes. She avoids lying and is a terrible liar, often blurting out what she is trying to lie about.

Mabel is well aware of her charms and appreciates her cuteness and beauty. She generally thinks highly of herself, considers herself "irresistible" to boys, claims that she does everything perfectly, and firmly believes that she has a "pure, perfect heart".
Mabel has also occasionally made mistakes that accidentally backfire somehow, such as shoving her brother in a closet with Wendy in "Into the Bunker" so he could end his fear and admit his crush on Wendy. This unintentionally puts them in danger when they encounter a dangerous creature. This also led to Wendy's friends group temporarily disbanding after she dated Robbie Valentino and Tambry in The Love God.
However, like her brother, Mabel has the best of intentions and she will always try to choose the right options for the happiness of herself and others, she also proves clumsy as in the episode "Soos and the Real Girl" as Mabel collides suddenly with the front door of the Mystery Shack and gets stuck on the metal door with a clamp.
Mabel is a teenage dreamer with a world of young adult novels, and her fixation on finding her one true love occasionally gets her in sticky situations. She sometimes has her moments of self-centered behavior, especially when it comes to boys she is in love with. In episodes like "Sock Opera" and "Boyz Crazy," she's known for putting her own needs ahead of others, although in the end she'll admit and accept her mistake.
There are other occasions where she can put her own desires ahead of hers, like in The Time Traveler where she gets Dipper to sacrifice his chance with Wendy so she can win Waddles, or Dipper and Mabel against the future." She wants Dipper to return to Piedmont with her, which means he can't do Ford's apprenticeship.
In the book Gravity Falls: Lost Legends, in the story "Don't Dimension It", it is revealed that after being stranded in an intermediate world full of alternate versions of herself, Mabel realized she was stuck with multiple versions of herself, the measures taken against her in her own interest, selfish as she was at times.
