Cosplay Guide
Grey cowboy hat, platinum blonde wig, slit-pupil contacts, fanged teeth, and the cold confidence of a hired assassin who knows he’s the most dangerous person in the room.
Striker is one of Helluva Boss’s most memorable antagonists: a smooth-talking, cold-eyed demon assassin with a western aesthetic and absolutely zero hesitation. His design mixes cowboy iconography with sharp demon features, giving cosplayers a genuinely distinctive look that stands out at any animation or Helluva Boss event. He debuts in the episode “The Harvest Moon Festival” and has been a fan favourite build ever since. You can read more about the character on the Striker Helluva Boss Fandom wiki.

Start with the makeup. Use the skin tone palette to build a pale base, then use the eyeshadow to recreate Striker’s angular, dramatic eye detail. Insert the contact lenses after the eye makeup is set. Then get dressed: base layer first, then pants, then boots. Clip the dragon tail to the back of your waistband. Layer the jacket over the base, add the scarf around your neck, and put on the gloves.
Once the clothing is sorted, put on the platinum wig and position it centrally. The wig should sit flat along the sides with the length falling naturally. Then place the horn headband, followed by the cowboy hat on top at a very slight angle. Attach the fanged teeth last. Striker’s in-character register is slow, deliberate, and always calm. Never rush. Never flinch. The whole character runs on the assumption that he’s already won, and the costume reads better if you play that.
Stacking the Hat Over the Horns
The horn headband needs to sit low and snug so the cowboy hat sits cleanly on top without looking wobbly. Test the fit at home before the event. If the hat keeps lifting, use a thin strip of double-sided fashion tape inside the brim to anchor it to the wig. The hat brim should sit level, not tilted back, for the closest match to Striker’s actual design.
Getting Striker’s Eye Makeup Right
Striker’s eye makeup is sharp and angular with strong lines that extend outward. Use a thin angled brush for precision. Apply the eyeshadow first as a base colour wash across the lid, then define the outer corner and lower lash line with a darker shade. Finish with a precise liner for the sharp edge. Don’t blend everything out softly. Striker’s makeup has edges, and that’s the point.
Wearing the Contacts Safely All Day
The Striker contacts are the detail that gets the most attention, but coloured cosplay contacts require some care. Only buy from a reputable supplier that includes a prescription option, even at plano strength. Insert them before any eye makeup goes on, not after. Bring a travel case and solution to any all-day event. Most people can comfortably wear cosplay lenses for six to eight hours, but if your eyes start feeling dry, take them out. No costume is worth an eye infection.
Choosing Your Jacket for the Female Build
The female build gives you three outerwear options, which is either helpful or slightly overwhelming depending on your tolerance for decisions. The fringe faux suede jacket is the most direct reference to Striker’s in-show look and I’d pick it first. The steampunk jacket works better if you want a more structured silhouette. The cropped jean jacket is fine as a layering piece underneath but probably shouldn’t be the main outerwear. Pick one and commit to it.
Helluva Boss Main Cast
The strongest group concept for this costume by far. Striker as the antagonist alongside the I.M.P team creates an immediately recognisable ensemble for any Helluva Boss fan. The visual contrast between Striker’s pale western look and the rest of the cast’s distinct designs makes the group read clearly even at a distance. This only works if everyone knows the show, but if they do, it’s a great call.
Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel Crossover
A crossover group that combines both shows. It works best at events where the audience knows both series, so probably more of a convention pick than a general Halloween party choice. The mixed cast of villains, neutrals, and chaotic wildcards makes for an interesting group dynamic on paper and a visually varied lineup in person.
Hazbin Hotel Villains and Chaos
A more niche group that leans into the chaotic villain energy across both shows. Katie Killjoy and the Egg Bois are very specific picks that will land hard with dedicated fans and get zero reaction from anyone else. Crowley is a wild card that bridges the demon aesthetic into different territory. Commit or don’t bother.
Demon and Creature Group
A creature-themed trio that pulls from animation and film. Striker’s demon cowboy look, Loona’s hellhound design, and Neytiri’s Na’vi aesthetic create a group that’s visually distinct without needing to share a source. It’s a bit of a mixed-bag concept, but the blue-and-pale colour story across the three costumes actually works better than you’d expect.
Western and Villain Mashup
A tight three-person group that keeps the demon and western themes running across all three costumes. Moxxie and Striker have existing in-show history which gives the group a built-in dynamic. Crowley brings a different flavour of stylish antagonist energy. Small group, strong visual result, easy to execute.
Full Helluva Boss Ensemble
The biggest group option on this list and the most visually impressive if everyone commits. Five distinct character designs from two connected shows. This is the kind of group that stops people in convention hallways. The weak link is always the person who half-commits. Make sure everyone is equally in before you plan around a five-person build.
The Striker cosplay has a clear priority order. The contact lenses, platinum wig, and grey cowboy hat are the three items you absolutely need to buy. Everything else is negotiable. The scarf can be any red bandana you already own. The base layer tee can be anything dark and plain. Boots can be substituted with any dark western-style option from your wardrobe. The fringe jacket is important for recognition but a fringed vest over a dark jacket can approximate the look if you already have both.
Striker’s eye makeup looks complex but it’s really just a matter of precision over complexity. The palette in the build list is great for colour options, but if you already own a mid-range eyeshadow palette with cool-toned darks and a matte medium tone, you probably have what you need. The key is the liner. A sharp, precise flick at the outer corner and a clean lower lash line definition do more work than the eyeshadow colour itself. Use a thin angled brush instead of the applicator that comes with the palette. The difference in precision is significant.
The Striker Helluva Boss cosplay is built around a grey felt cowboy hat, platinum blonde wig, Striker-style contact lenses, and a fringe jacket. Add a horn headband, fanged teeth, red scarf wrap, dragon tail, and paw claw gloves to complete the demon cowboy look. The male and female builds share most items, with the jacket and boot choices being the main difference. Both versions can be assembled for between $60 and $120.
Striker’s most quoted lines include “I live for the hunt” and his various cold, unhurried threats delivered with complete confidence. His register is smug and controlled. For cosplay in-character delivery, slow everything down, keep your expression flat, and treat every interaction like you already know how it ends. The character works because he’s never rattled. That’s the detail most cosplayers miss.
A long platinum blonde wig. It’s one of the most recognisable parts of his design. The pale hair against his dark western attire is a strong visual contrast that makes the character read clearly even in a crowded room.
Both builds share the same core items: horn, cowboy hat, platinum wig, contacts, fanged teeth, scarf, dragon tail, and paw claw gloves. The male build uses a Native American-style patterned jacket, suede vest, fitted tee, standard pants, and a taller western boot. The female build swaps these for a fringe faux suede jacket, optional cropped jean jacket or steampunk jacket, racerback vest or black tee, skinny leg pants, and a female-cut boot. The female build also has slightly more outerwear flexibility.
Mostly yes. The hat, wig, and contacts carry most of the character recognition work. The clothing layers are straightforward. The only genuinely tricky part is the eye makeup, which requires some precision to look right. Budget extra time for that, especially if you’re not used to doing detailed eye looks.
Striker has yellow eyes with slit pupils. These are recreated using Striker-style cosplay contact lenses. They’re the most character-specific item in the whole build and the detail that gets the most attention up close. Only buy from reputable suppliers and always follow safe contact lens hygiene.
The strongest group is the Helluva Boss main cast: Moxxie, Millie, and Loona alongside Striker. It’s immediately recognisable to any fan of the show and the contrasting designs make for a great group photo. For a wider crossover, adding Angel Dust or Lucifer Magne from Hazbin Hotel works well at conventions. A three-person group with Moxxie and Crowley is a solid smaller option if you want something easier to coordinate.
